Two pieces I submitted to the Vistas community newspaper were published in September. To view the short article I submitted, click here. To view the photo and caption I submitted, click here.

I've updated my resumé. Check out the resumé section for a .PDF copy.

After taking a trip to Northern Ontario, I finally have some new photos for the photos section of DeanMorin.com. Feel free to take a look!

March 1, 2006

I'm in the latest issue of Glue Magazine! I was interviewed regarding my thoughts on adding a community college education to a university degree. To view the Glue Magazine article, click here.

Some slight updates were made to the resumé section. I posted a more current version of my resumé and updated the associated graphic as well, but I still have to update my resumé by adding my new job in along with an accompanying description of what I do. More updates will be made in mid-late 2006.

Things are going well with my new full-time job. The people I work with are great, the organization is really making a difference in the world, and I absolutely love the work I'm doing. I'm also really starting to like having regular working hours again -- something I didn't have the luxury of earlier in 2005.

As a few people have asked me what I do now, my new position is manager of marketing and communications for the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF). If you'd like to see a picture of me on the job, please take a look in the photos section.

A few people have written to me saying they like my new goatee. Well, I'm flattered by the compliments, but unfortunately the goatee isn't likely to last past Christmas. I figured I'd try growing one again since the last time I did it was 2003. As was the case before, it's a pain to maintain, and it makes me look five to seven years older. However, I might be tempted to bring it back for summer 2006 with enough requests (particularly from my girlfriend).

A slight revision was made to the banner today. I added a maple leaf next to the left of DeanMorin.com. I had wanted to add the maple leaf for some time, but I had to wait until fall to take a digital shot of a nicely coloured leaf. I hope everybody likes it.

My apologies on how long it's been since the last time I updated the site, but I've been very busy over the last few months with a slew of consulting work, several vacations, and a new full-time job. I found some time tonight to post three few new photos in the photos section, so feel free to take a look. More updates will be coming soon (hopefully this week).

July 30, 2005

I thought it might be nice to create a splash page for the website. This gives the "welcome to DeanMorin.com ..." paragraph a proper home (it used to be here on the news section before).

July 29, 2005

Sorry for the lack of updates of late, I've been rather ill with an upper respiratory infection. I can't even remember the last time I was sick in the summer! I have also been doing some consulting work of late and that has taken a lot of my free time. I'll try to get things back on schedule for August.

After spending some time locating and scanning photos of myself, I'm pleased to announce the photos section of DeanMorin.com is finally up. I've also made some tweaks to the website fonts, content, and enabled an option that opens documents in separate windows.

With the completion of the photos section, only the portfolio section of DeanMorin.com needs completion. I had been holding off completing this section as several people informed me they could not see the .pdf attachments on Macintosh computers. I looked into the problem and discovered it stemmed from the free .pdf creator program I was using. I've recently obtained a new program that has fixed the issue, so I'll continue work on the portfolio section shortly.

I've had a few people ask me some questions about my President Rosser Prize win. Some people are curious what the prize is, others want to know what it looks like. If you want a description of what it is, please see my resumé. If you look at the bottom of the second page, I have a brief description listed there.

In terms of what it looks like, the prize is simply a gold medal – without a ribbon – that has the college logo on the front and my name on the back. If you would like to see a picture of the President Rosser Prize, choose either the low resolution version or high resolution version. (Note: hi resolution shot is approximately 2 megs).

There is a rather flattering article in the Ottawa Citizen about me today. Check out the City section, page C5 for more information. For a .pdf copy of the Citizen article, please click here. If you found out about my website through the Citizen article, please note DeanMorin.com is nearly complete with the exception of the photos and portfolio sections.

If you are looking to hire me full-time, you can obtain a copy of resumé in the resumé section. If you wish to contact me, please visit the contact section for more information.

I've completed work on the bio and consulting sections of DeanMorin.com. Some work has been done to the portfolio section too, but much like the photos section, I still have a lot of files I need to round up before I can upload the information. The portfolio section is a very important part of the site, so I plan to spend a lot of time working on it.

I attended my graduation ceremony at Algonquin College today. The ceremony was fabulous and went very well. A lot of pictures were taken at the convocation, so I plan to put a few up here in the photos section soon. I also took some photos of President Rosser Prize as I know some people are curious what it looks like. These photos will be posted here too.

I'd like to take the time to congratulate all my fellow classmates who graduated, as well as the other students of the college who graduated today! I also wanted to congratulate Cassandra Meldrum, a former Students' Association co-worker of mine who won the Wybourn Award at the college. Great job Cassandra!

I've worked on the resumé, links, and contact section of DeanMorin.com. Next up should be the bio section. Keep checking back soon.

June 6, 2005

I've just finished the main design work on DeanMorin.com with the hopes the full operational website will be up shortly. I'm still in the process of tweaking a few things and creating content for the website, so make sure to check back soon for more updates.

I've just been informed that I've won the President Rosser Prize, one of Algonquin College's top honours. I'm honoured and humbled by the news. I had some serious competition for the award, including some of my fellow co-workers from the Algonquin College Students' Association. I'm sure it must have been a tough decision for the selection committee, there were a lot of excellent candidates.

My thanks goes out to all the students, staff, and co-workers at Algonquin who nominated me for the award. I know a lot of you took the time out of your busy schedules to write nomination letters and I'll always be grateful for this. A special thanks goes out to the selection committee for the nod of approval as well.

A couple people have asked me if I've also won the Wybourn award from the college. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea at this point. I haven't heard anything yet from Student Services. If anything, I'd imagine winning the Rosser Prize would hurt my chances of winning the Wybourn award. If I hear anything I'll be sure to post a new entry here.

It's been a long time coming, but I purchased the domain names www.DeanMorin.com and www.DeanMorin.ca. With these new domain names I plan on rolling out a new upgraded version of my personal website soon.
